Wally is a wonderful and handsome 6 yr-old Golden Retriever. He is not your typical Golden for a variety of reasons. He weighs 63 lbs so is smaller than any Golden male (4) we have owned. We love his size as does practically everyone he meets. Wally is also the most athletic Golden we’ve ever owned. He runs like a thoroughbred horse and loves agility challenges. His smooth and silky coat is also huge plus. People are amazed when they pet him. We seldom have to brush his coat compared to other Goldens we’ve owned.
Wally’s personality is so loving and sweet. He was easily trained and will do anything to please. He loves area dog parks and gets along with all dogs. Another big plus is that Wally is not afraid of loud noises and never even whimpers during thunderstorms or fireworks. He travels easily. He swims nearly every day and has had no ear infections to date. Nor does he have any allergies or skin issues.
Wally has not been hunted because of owners age. However, as owner I’ve trained 6 Goldens I’ve previously owned for hunting. Wally has so much hunting potential—he has a great nose and loves retrieving on land in water. His endurance is remarkable because of his athletic body and conditioning. He loves to retrieve on land and in water. Our vet says he is an amazing physical specimen. Several of his pups are now hunting very successfully and their owners are very pleased. They send me photos feequently and are available upon request.
When we bought Wally we really didn’t think about using him for stud. However, as time evolved we realized we had a great dog with physical attributes that stand out from the crowd. Others agree including a prominent Golden breeder in Minnesota who is a close friend. Our friend said Wally’s smaller and more manageable size is a plus for many owners with smaller size females. He also praises Wally’s athleticism, personality and smooth, silky coat.
Wally has been genetically tested and the report is available upon request as are vet reports. His hips have been OFA certified GOOD and his elbows are negative for joint problems.
Some great videos of Wally are also available. Photos of some of the puppies he has fathered available upon request. A 4-generation pedigree is available too.
Wally sired his first litter of 9 beautiful Golden pups (all female) on February 1, 2022. Breeder lives in Appleton and reported all pups easily placed. Since then Wally has bred 4 Goldens successfully so far in 2023. Seven pups (5 female 2 male) born in Red Wing, MN in July. All were placed with no advertising. Another one of his litters produced 10 pups (5 female 5 male) in Tomah, WI, August 2023. The same year he sired a litter of 10 pups with a Golden from Portage.. A litter of 11 were whelped in Osseo in early October and another litter of eight in 2024. All breeders very pleased with Wally’s stud qualities with some wanting future breedings. Wally is a great stud dog for smaller Goldens under 65 lbs. If your female is larger consider artificial insemination. Talk to your vet about that option.
