We begin the selection process by researching and examining pedigrees of working line German Shepherds. Although pedigrees do not guarantee what we're looking for in a dog, it can reveal both desirable and undesirable inherited genetic tendencies passed along in its bloodlines. Things such as Dysplasia, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and potential skills or qualities are often apparent in a dog's pedigree. After all, if it's not in the dog's parents or pedigree (genetics), then it's probably not going to be in the dog. All puppies go thru the puppy test. Other tests that are helpful are problem-solving tests, resource-guarding tests, and toy-drive tests. These evaluations give you an idea of which puppy might be the best candidate for the dog sports you might be interested in or which one might be the best fit for your current pack.
Temperament test scores don’t necessarily reflect exactly how a puppy will grow up, but they can give a good indication. A puppy’s environment and socialization until adulthood have big impact. But temperament testing is a valuable tool that can be helpful in placing puppies in homes where they will thrive.
we evaluate the clarity and stability of their minds and temperament, along with their skills, drives, courage and resilience, a health exam is performed including blood work and X-Rays of their hips, elbows and spine by a licensed veterinarian. If the above criteria is met, then we continue with the process and bring them home. We then take them to our local veterinarian for another complete health evaluation just to be on the safe side before we do any breeding. We work with reputable breeders overseas and make sure we know everything about that dog before it gets shipped to the states.
